Texture evolution in high-pressure torsion processing

چکیده

Among the severe plastic deformation processing (SPD) of materials, high-pressure torsion (HPT) is known to induce considerable amounts strain and crucial grain refinement up nanometer scale. There have been several reviews on mechanical properties and/or microstructure correlations SPD-processed materials published during last two decades. By contrast, a review crystallographic texture evolution HPT not at present available. Consequently, this work was undertaken in Face-Centered Cubic (FCC), Body-Centered (BCC) Hexagonal Close-Packed (HCP) crystal structure processed exclusively by with special emphasis influence many intrinsic extrinsic factors such as imposed strain, temperature alloying elements.

Microstructural Evolution in Pure Aluminum in the Early Stages of Processing by High-Pressure Torsion

Measurements were taken to evaluate the evolution of homogeneity in disks of high-purity aluminum in the early stages of processing by high-pressure torsion. The results demonstrate that samples processed through 1/4 or more whole revolutions exhibit microhardness values which are generally higher in the centers of the disks than at the edges whereas after 1/8 turn the hardness is higher at the...

Numerical Analysis of Severe Plastic Deformation by High Pressure Torsion

High-pressure torsion (HPT) is a metal processing method in which the sample is subjected to a very high plastic shear deformation. This process can produce exceptional levels of grain refinement, and provides a corresponding improvement in mechanical properties. To investigate the stress and strain distribution due to HPT process finite element simulation were conducted to investigate effectiv...

The effect of twinning on texture evolution during ECAP processing of an AM30 magnesium alloy

An AM30 magnesium alloy was processed through ECAP method at 200 °C. Optical and transmission electron microscopy as well as electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD) technique were employed to characterize the deformed microstructure. A partially recrystallized microstructure including ultrafine/nano structures was obtained. The area fraction of 49% was measured for the recrystallized regions...

Self-annealing in a two-phase Pb-Sn alloy after processing by high-pressure torsion

A Pb-62% Sn two-phase eutectic alloy was processed by high-pressure torsion (HPT) and stored at room temperature (RT) to investigate the occurrence of self-annealing. The microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties were recorded during self-annealing using scanning electron microscopy, tensile testing and nanoindentation. Processing by HPT produces a weakening effect but storage a...
